Ingredients

  • Frozen (Any brand), Jumbo Potato Samosas
  • One medium size white Onion finely chopped for the topping
  • One small red Onion, pureed (throw in the chopper along with a little bit of water)
  • One medium size Tomato, pureed
  • 1/4 cup of cooking oil for cooking Garbanzo
  • Approximately one 15.5 oz can of Garbanzo (Chick Peas / Chana) per 4 samosas
  • Lot of oil to deep fry Samosas (follow the instructions on the Samosa packaging)
  • Cilantro, finely chopped for garnishing at the end (optional)
  • Salt and Pepper to your taste OR alternately you can use Shan “Murgh Choley” (Chicken Garbanzo) spice mix
  • CHUTNEY (Mint and Cilantro sauce)

Directions

  1. Add 1/4 cup of cooking oil to a pan on low medium heat and add Onion puree to it and stir for approximately two minutes
  2. Next, add tomato puree in this pot along with 1/4 cup of water along with salt and pepper to your taste and let this mixture simmer, stirring occasionally on low heat
  3. Rinse Garbanzo thoroughly under running water and take 1/4 of these Garbanzos and make a puree adding a little bit of water to it also and set aside
  4. When you see oil separating from the onion and tomato mixture in the pot, it is ready to add Garbanzo puree and remaining Garbanzos to it
  5. Within 5-7 minutes it should thicken and oil should start separating from this mixture
  6. At this point, Garbanzo topping is ready and you can turn off heat and set this pan aside
  7. Fry the Samosas according to the instructions on its packaging, and once Samosas are fried, you are ready to assemble this Chaat
  8. Take two Samosas in a plate and crush them with your hands or with the back of a tablespoon. Top it with the Garbanzos (be generous) and then sprinkle it with the finely chopped white onion and cilantro.
  9. You can top it with the green Chutney or a sauce of your liking and enjoy
