Ingredients

  • 1 Can of Garbanzo (chickpeas) beans - 15.5 Oz
  • 1 finely chopped medium size onion (or make your life easy and just use 1/4 cup of fried onion)
  • 3 Tomatoes medium size
  • 1/4 cup of cooking oil
  • Shan “Murgh Cholay” spice mix. They have “Chana Masala” also but I like Murgh Cholay better OR you can use dry spices of your choice, to your taste
  • 1 green chili (of your choice), I medium size lemon, and a little bit of finely chopped cilantro for the garnish

Directions

  1. Make a tomato puree in chopper/food processor
  2. In a non-stick pot, if you are using fresh onion then brown it in the oil and once it turns golden then pour this puree in it or else if you are using pre-fried onions from the market then just mix those with this puree and half a cup of water over low-medium heat.
  3. Once this mixture comes to a boil, lower the heat, cover it with a lid, and just let it simmer, stirring occasionally to ensure it doest dry and/or stick to the pan
  4. In 10/15 minutes, this mixture should thicken and turn to a curry base
